Let CSU’s ROAR ensure your success as a new student

Orientation at CSU is an opportunity to:

  • Meet other new students.
  • Explore campus resources and organizations.
  • Learn academic policies and procedures.
  • Distinguish between academic myths and facts.
  • And get a better idea of CSU's expectations for you to realize your potential.

Columbus State is committed to what it calls ROAR, which is short for Retention through Orientation, Advisement and Registration. For that reason, orientation is required for all freshmen. Transfer students are encouraged, but not required, to attend.

You must be accepted for admission before signing up for orientation.

After you attend orientation, student leaders will direct you to your academic adviser, who will discuss curriculum requirements and ultimately guide you through online registration. Freshmen who miss orientation will have to register for courses later and be subject to a late fee. Students who leave early will not be able to register for courses on orientation day. More information on rules, fees and how to sign up.

Your Orientation is not complete until payment is received.  Payment is due five days prior to the Orientation program that you select.  Any changes that you make regarding your registration could affect the payment deadline.  Please be mindful of this if a change is made.  Late payment will also include a $25 late fee.  For questions regarding your payment, contact Paula Simko at 706-568-2330.
