Bridgett Carver
I am from a small town called Pine Mountain. I decided to go to CSU because it looked like the right school for me. The environment was welcoming and I felt welcomed the first time I was on campus. One of the main things I love about CSU is that they are really great about getting everyone involved in something. They hold events through out the year just for students. It's a great way to make new friends and to just have a great time. My major is exercise science and when I graduate I would love to do a little bit of traveling before starting my career. My advice for freshman is to live life to the fullest and take advantage of every opportunity that comes their way, but most importantly have fun!

Dalton, Ga - B.S. in Biology - When I graduate, I plan to teach in South Korea for a year, and then come back to the states to pursue a career in Physical Therapy. My favorite thing about CSU is Greek life. We always keep it fun while supporting the school. I chose the school because it just matched my personality. There are lots of people to meet and plenty to do on campus. My advice for freshmen is to get involved! College can be the best time of your life, you just have to get out of your comfort zone and experience absolutely everything that is available to you.

Manchester, Ga - Criminal Justice - I want to work within the criminal justice system for the government. My favorite part of CSU would be Intramurals because I love to play sports. I chose CSU because of its great Criminal Justice program and because it's close to home. My advice for freshman is study hard and keep your GPA high because the longer you wait the harder it is to pull it up!

Lauren Gazaway
Hi! I'm Lauren Gazaway. I'm from Cataula, GA. I graduated from Harris County High School in 2008. My major is Early Childhood Education. After graduation, I plan to travel to Australia during the summer. Then come back and start my teaching career in one of the local elementary schools while earning a master degree in education. My favorite thing about CSU would have to be... EVERYTHING! Seriously! What’s not to like? There are great professors, tons of activities and organizations, sports and intramurals, and everyone is just so darn nice! I chose to go to CSU because it’s close to home and has a great education program. And I just always knew I would be going to CSU. If I could give one piece of advice to freshmen, I would have to say: get involved! You only go to college once, so make the most of it. Do everything thing you possibly can while you’re here.

Shay Graham
My name is Shakendra "Shay" Graham. I am a 21-year-old native of Columbus, GA. As a senior early childhood major, I aspire to be an elementary school teacher and then further my education career by becoming an elementary school principal. Columbus State University is the best! What I like most about CSU is the diversity. We are all one big family that continues to grow! I chose CSU because of its excellent education program. They give you a chance to observe classrooms to see if that is the right career for you. My advice for freshmen is to be careful about transferring to multiple colleges. It can set you back in the long run. Over the past 4 years, I have been to 4 different colleges and I realized CSU was the place for me. However, I lost credits and if you don't want the same thing to happen to you, stay at the best college around...Columbus State University!!!

Taylor Hartley
Early Childhood Education Major - Junior - Born and raised in Columbus. I enjoy all sports, mostly baseball. I am a member of Kappa Sigma. I plan on teaching 5th grade students in a much busier city than Columbus. Possibly, later on, I will teach a Bath Ruth baseball team on the side. The best thing that happened at CSU for me was getting to see all the excited faces on the women when Kappa Sigma raised 6,000 dollars for breast cancer awareness. The best piece of advise for a freshmen is to get involved. Don't just sit at home or in your dorms. Get involved with organizations or clubs that are provided. It will make your college experience 10x better.

Samantha Hugueley
I was born and raised in sunny San Diego, California. I moved to Georgia about three years ago. I am a communications major hoping to be a public relations representative for some philanthropic company. Like TOMS shoes or UNICEF. What brought me to CSU was the versatile dance team which has created so many opportunities for me. My favorite thing about CSU is the student to teacher ratio. I really enjoy the idea that my teachers know who I am and I am not just a number. My one piece of advice is TIME MANAGEMENT, learn it and embrace it, if you don't you will be in for one heck of a mess.

Mone Millbrook
Sociology/Criminal Justice - 2007 Graduate from Gordon College - When I graduate, I want to work with battered woman and become an advocate for them. My favorite thing about CSU is the Shuttle Bus (sounds crazy, but true). I chose to come to CSU because they have a lot of activities and events and I liked the student success stories. I also like CSU because it was not to far but not to close to home either. Advice for freshman is to come to school with an open mind, ask questions, stay focused and STUDY!!! STUDY!!! STUDY!!! My favorite quote: "Amateurs built the ark, professionals built the titanic."

Nick Sostillio
Nicholas Sostillio is a Theater Education major from Warner Robins, GA. After he graduates, he plans to teach theatre at the high school level. His favorite thing about CSU is the beautiful RiverPark Campus, were the newly created College of Fine & Preforming Arts is located. He chose CSU because the fine arts programs are nationally recognized and because it's an all around amazing experience. Some advice for freshmen: You can receive many discounts around town by showing your CSU ID, be sure to ask if there is a student discount!

Kristen Strickland
Eufaula, Alabama - Political Science - When I graduate, I plan to attend law school. My favorite thing about CSU is that I love how students get individual attention not only from their professors but also from faculty and staff in every area and department. I chose CSU because you get the most bang for your buck. With one on one interaction from amazing professors, you get the education you need to excel. With study abroad, internship, and job opportunities, you get experience to prepare you for life after graduation. My advice for freshmen is that college is not just about making good grades and making friends. It's about living through experiences. Whether they're fun and exciting or awkward and uncomfortable. Try to put yourself in new and unusual situations that you normally wouldn't consider. The more you get outside your comfort zone, the more fun you will have and the more you will be prepared for life after graduation."

Takesha Williams
My name is TaKesha Williams. I was born and raised in Columbus, Georgia. My major is Secondary Education in Mathematics. I am currently a Junior at CSU. After graduation, I plan to get my Masters degree in Education while beginning my first year teaching in the Muscogee County School District. My favorite thing about CSU is intramural sports. I participate in flag football, basketball, and softball. Intramural sports are great and so much fun. I chose to come to CSU to be close to home and also because CSU is such an elite college for me to succeed in getting my degree in Education. My advice for incoming freshmen is to not just go to class and go home, but to get involved in something and succeed in it. By doing this it will make your first year of college so much better. And remember, have fun, but education comes first!
